Introduction: Reentry is a growing field of interest, learning, employment, & volunteerism. Its value is being realized gradually in government spending, public safety, improved services, community well-being, & individual flourishing.

This page is devoted to reentry education & training, for service providers, professionals, & volunteers. It provides access to appropriate, comprehensive, innovative, & accessible continuing education & lifelong learning opportunities. It
promotes & supports education, training, & professionalism in the emerging interdisciplinary field of reentry. SMART Institute will include SMART sponsored offerings as they are developed. [Top]

SMART Bulletins: By email we frequently distribute reentry news, which includes learning opportunities of workshops, conferences, & training exercises of particular interest to the reentry field. To receive SMART Bulletins, type "SMART Bulletin" on subject line & send name, organization (if relevent), postal & email addresses, telephone number(s) to rseidel1@rochester.rr.com, SMART website manager.

Values, the evidence: Many organizations recognize significant economic, technical, & intellectual values of professional & continuing education in the work of their members. Such fields include public safety and law enforcement, nursing, management, creative professions, & customized training partnerships, among others. American higher education is similarly positive: post-secondary education reduces recidivism, as demonstrated by these articles: (one) & (two).[Top]
